The goal of the Biospecimens Program is to develop a network of biobanking activities by sustainably enabling and supporting biospecimen-related research across consortium members and collaborators.

With this Focus Area, MassCPR emphasizes the value of collecting biospecimens for clinical research and future outbreak preparedness.

MassCPR supports biobanks at Mass General Brigham, Massachusetts General Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center, and UMass Chan School of Medicine. These biobanks include sample collections of:

• COVID-19
• Long COVID
• RSV
• Mpox samples
• Perinatal biorepositories for emerging pathogens
• Maternal-infant samples
• Expression vector biobanks
• And many others
